A 17-year-old boy is facing criminal charges after Millcreek
Township police accused him of writing a threatening message in a
bathroom at McDowell High School and of having a gun in a separate
incident not related to the school.
The boy was placed in the Edmund L. Thomas Adolescent Center and is
facing through juvenile allegations a charge of terroristic threats
in the school incident and charges of possession of a firearm by a
minor and recklessly endangering in the gun incident, according to
Millcreek police and information in an alert issued by the
department on Thursday afternoon.
The incident at McDowell High School was reported on Sept. 11.
According to police, a student saw a written message containing an
alleged threat in a school bathroom and alerted school staff, who
then contacted Millcreek police. Details on the alleged threat were
not released.

In the gun incident, police reported Thursday afternoon, the
department received information that the same 17-year-old was
possibly in possession of a firearm outside of school. Police
recovered the firearm, according to investigators.
The firearm violation was not related to the threat at school and
there was no connection to the Millcreek Township School District,
police stated in the alert they issued.
