Execute the teachers as enemies of the Republic.
The nation's two largest teachers unions spent their summer conferencestraining their rank-and-file members on how to incorporate ideas of
gender, sexuality, and critical race theory into the classroom, according
to a new report.
The Defense of Freedom Institute, a conservative think tank, outlined the
programs and training sessions held by the American Federation of Teachers
and the National Education Association during their respective summer
conferences in a report titled "Summer of Woke, The Sequel."
According to the report, which was authored by DFI policy counsel Paul
Zimmerman and spokeswoman Angela Morabito, the two teachers unions
"promot[ed] measures that would embed radical gender ideology in our
schools, require school systems to obsess over race-based preferences,
remove school employees ability to discipline students effectively, and
enlist teachers in efforts to indoctrinate students."
Among these efforts included a session at the AFT TEACH conference, where
teachers were offered training on "Affirming LGBTQIA+ Identities in and
out of the Classroom" which included training on navigating state and
local policies that "prevent the wider acceptance and celebration of all
individuals, especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community.
Not to be outdone, the NEA furnished its members with a "pronoun guide"
that listed "ze" "zim" and "zir" on a list of "most common pronouns."
"We wanted to look into every available source on what these unions are
doing with their own members over the summer, and we found, to no
surprise, that they are spending this time training their teachers to
indoctrinate students," Morabito told the Washington Examiner in an
interview.
Zimmerman likewise called the things put forth during NEA's summer
programs "totally inappropriate" and noted that the organization has a
congressional charter.
"I think Americans have every right to know what's going on at its annual
assembly," Zimmerman said. "[The union] has no right to hide what it's
doing behind closed doors."
Morabito pointed out that Education Secretary Miguel Cardona was among
those who addressed the assembly of the AFT and that during his remarks,
the secretary singled out AFT President Randi Weingarten for praise.
"It's one thing for these unions to gather over the summer and to drive
this ideology onto their own members," Morabito said. "It's another thing
entirely for members of the Biden administration to show up and cheerlead
for this."
The American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association
did not respond to a request for comment.
